Host a Block Party on National Night Out
  • Tuesday, August 1, 2017
  • 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The date for National Night Out in 2016 is August 1,2017.  The date is always the first Tuesday in August. National Night Out is an annual nationwide event designed to strengthen neighborhood spirit and unity, raise crime prevention awareness, and develop partnerships between the city and the community-on a street, block and city-wide level. This year, the city-wide celebration will include Neighborhood Crime Watch groups, CERT members, homeowners associations, and other neighborhood groups interested in celebrating and strengthening their neighborhood connections.

Hosting a National Night Out party is a simple way for people to meet one another, have fun, and explore how they might work together to improve the safety and quality of their neighborhood. The City of Fremont encourages neighborhoods to organize a block party, barbecue, ice cream social or similar gathering.

Block Party Permit
If you plan to block off your street for your celebration, you will need to get a block party permit from the City of Fremont by calling Julie Vidad at 510-494-4475 or . The deadline to file for a permit is Friday, July 7, 2017. The cost of the permit is $20.

Request a Visit from the Fire Department
As many of you are aware, the Fremont Police Department, along with many other law enforcement agencies around the country, has been faced with budgetary constraints. It is with great regret that we have to inform all of our participants that we will not be able to guarantee a visit to every party. To request a visit from the Fire Department, send an email to Pam Franklin . Requests for a visit from the Fire Department will be accepted when registration opens on June 7, 2017.
