Management Training (Green Certificate)
Overview
Resident managers and/or property owners attend an eight-hour seminar presented by the Fremont Police Department. Topics include:
  • Applicant screening
  • Drug / gang recognition
  • Eviction process
  • Rental agreements
  • Role of working with police, fire, housing / code enforcement, and other city staff

Special emphasis is given to training owners and managers on applicant screening (to include criminal history background checks), and active property management.

Management Education
In this phase, managers will learn:
  • Actions to take if they suspect illegal activity on their property
  • Active property management
  • Benefits of applicant screening
  • CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design)
  • Crisis resolution and the eviction process
  • Fair housing (treating everyone the same)
  • How to become a proactive property manager
  • How to maintain a fire safe environment
  • How to use crime prevention techniques on their property
  • The role of the police and working with the police
  • The warning signs of drug activity and other suspicious illegal activity
  • Tips for drug and gang recognition
  • Tips to strengthen rental agreements
  • Understanding criminal background checks
  • Using the Crime Free Lease Addendum

Certification
Property owners / managers who complete Phase One Training will receive a green certificate listing their achievement. The certificate should be displayed in the Property Manager's office, so that it is visible to future applicants.
