As a member of the Fremont Police Department, our role is to assist the organization in the identification of problems or reoccurring incidents that adversly affect the quality of life in the Community or create unnecessary burden on City/Police resources. We participate in the development of solutions to these problems whenever possible. In the Communications Center these problems are considered opportunities to have a positive impact on the City or Department. Creativity and innovation are encouraged.
Using the S.A.R.A. model (scanning, analysis, response, assessment) we collect the information necessary to initiate the problem solving process. We then attempt to develope the appropriate response to the problem with the assistance of our Crime Analysis Unit or other resources within the Police Department. A few of the projects initiated by our dispatch unit are listed below.
Listen to the Music
Dispatcher Kathy Dennis
With the warm weather comes an increase in the complaints for loud music and parties.
Fremont Police Communication Unit has initiated a procedure of dealing with these calls that will result in better service to our citizens and keep more officers available to handle other calls.
When a complaint of loud music or parties comes into the communication unit, dispatchers attempt to locate a telephone number for the residence where the disturbance is occurring.
If a telephone number is located, a call is made to the residence and a request for cooperation is made. Citizen are instructed to call police if the disturbance continues and an officer will be dispatched to handle the complaint.
By handling these calls in this fashion, we can keep officers patrolling the streets and available to respond to in progress calls.
