The Fremont Police Department Volunteers are an important part of our team. Volunteers enable us to continue our goal of providing courteous, professional and responsible service to our community.
Applicants must be 18 years old, unless specified. All applicants must pass a background check. A record of repeated criminal misdemeanors and/or felony violations or other infractions of the law may be disqualifying. We request a commitment of a minimum of 6 hours per week. The positions in red indicate the units that currently have available positions.
Alarm Abatement Program - Office Volunteer
Animal Services - Currently recruiting adult volunteers for Adoptions, Dog Exerciser, Groomer, Kennel Assistant, and Office Volunteer.
Teen Animal Shelter Program - This is a highly desired program with a high volume of applications. Be advised applications could be held up to 6 months.
Business Services - Office Volunteer and Special Projects
C.A.R.E. Volunteer - Currently we are not accepting applications for this program. Recruitment will commence in 2008. If interested in the 2008 class, please submit an application and it will be held until then.
Community Engagement Unit - Currently recruiting 2 office volunteers specifically for assisting with National Night Out. Volunteers assist with mass mailing, filing, labeling and other duties as needed. Schedule would be Thursday and Friday from 11:00am to 7:00pm.
Disabled Parking Enforcement - Handicapped Area Parking Patrol Program HAPP recruits volunteers to assist with the enforcement of disabled parking violations. Valid California Driver's license required. Minimum age 20 years old.
Detention Facility (Jail) - Office Volunteer and Kitchen Help.
Explorers - Learn about law enforcement through teamwork, academies, conferences and obtain work experience. Participate in traffic control, special events, ride-alongs with officers and more. Age requirement between 14 years and 18 years old. You must be attending school and maintain a C+ grade point average.
Forensic Services - Interns, Office Volunteer, and Photo Lab Assistant.
Investigations Unit - Courier, Office Volunteer, and assist with special projects.
Records Unit - Records is currently recruiting 1 volunteer with computer experience to assist with data entry, scanning and filing.
Training Unit - Office Volunteer
Traffic - Assist with statistical reporting, records processing, identify high accident intersections and enforcement areas.
Volunteer Program - Office Volunteer to assist the Volunteer Administrator with filing, typing, labeling, mailing, and making deliveries to other police units. Data entry as needed.
