Dublin, CA – Alameda County District Attorney Nancy E. O’Malley today filed murder charges against Maria Moore and Marvel Salvant in a sophisticated murder-for-hire case that resulted in the homicide of Fremont resident Dominic Sarkar. An extensive and complex criminal investigation by the Fremont Police Department revealed that Maria Moore, the beneficiary of the victim’s life insurance policies, hired Marvel Salvant to kill Dominic Sarkar on October 8, 2018.

The two suspects have been charged as follows:

Both stand charged with murder, a violation of Penal Code Section 187(a) with two special circumstances alleged: that the murder was intentional and carried out for financial gain (PC 190.2(a)(1), and that the murder was committed by means of lying in wait (PC 190.2(a)(5).  Salvant is also charged with unlawful possession a firearm in violation of Penal Code Section 29800.

Both defendants are expected to be arraigned in the East County Hall of Justice on 12/20/18 at 2:00 pm in Department 712.

Please see attached criminal complaint and declaration of probable cause.

Because this is now an active criminal prosecution, the District Attorney’s Office is not able to make further comments on the matter.
