Human Remains Found Sunday Night on Levee off Mashlands Rd.

On Sunday, February 21, 2016, at 8:16 p.m., the Fremont Police dispatch center received a report of a body found in the marshlands near the Dumbarton Pier. The body was found by a group of people fishing in the area.

Patrol officers arrived to the location and met with the witnesses who had found what was confirmed to be human remains. It is unknown how long the body had been in the water and/or at this location. The Alameda County Coroner’s Office responded and took custody of the body at approximately 11:00 p.m.

Fremont Police detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident and the Alameda County Coroner’s Office is investigating the cause and manner of death. No additional details are being released at this time.
