April 30, 2017 - Fatal Traffic Collision

Incident:  Fatal Traffic Collision

Date:  Sunday, April 30, 2017

Time:  10:14 p.m.

Location:  Paseo Padre Pkwy and Peralta Blvd.

On Sunday, April 30, 2017, at 10:06 p.m., Fremont Police Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a violation of a criminal protection order at a residence in the 38000 block of Vancouver Common.  The suspect was reported to be out in front of a residence on a motorcycle.  As patrol officers responded to the location, a description of the suspect and motorcycle were broadcast over the radio.

At 10:13 p.m. the first patrol officers arrived on scene and observed the suspect riding away from the area on the motorcycle.  The suspect left traveling westbound on Mowry Ave.  The responding officers attempted to stop the motorcyclist, but the driver immediately took off.  Officers relayed over the radio they were not in pursuit.  The vehicle turned northbound on Paseo Padre Pkwy and was last seen passing Country Drive before officers lost sight.  The officers drove back to the residence so they could continue their investigation of the reported protection order violation.

At 10:14 p.m., Fremont police dispatch received several 911 calls of an injury collision involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Paseo Padre Pkwy at Peralta Blvd.  Callers reported a motorcyclist had collided with a traffic signal and was in the roadway.  Additional officers were dispatched to the collision scene.  The first officers to arrive located the motorcyclist lying in the roadway unconscious and not breathing.  Officers provided medical aid to the driver, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene by Fremont Fire Paramedics.  No other vehicles or persons were involved.

Through their investigation, officers determined the deceased motorcyclist (50 year old adult male, Fremont resident) was the suspect associated with the reported violation of a criminal protection order.    Several witnesses were present and remained on scene.

The collision is being investigated by the Fremont Traffic Unit and the violation of the criminal protection order is being investigated by the Fremont Police Patrol Division.    Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to please contact Traffic Officer Tran at
