May 14, 2017 Fatal Traffic Collision (Fremont Blvd./Darwin Dr.)

While the ongoing investigation remains active, initial information is as follows:  A black Toyota Yaris was making a left-hand turn from southbound Fremont Blvd onto eastbound Darwin Drive when it collided with a blue Chevy Malibu traveling northbound on Fremont Blvd.  The right front passenger of the Yaris, an 18 year old female, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Yaris, a 39 year old female Fremont resident and mother of the 18 year old, suffered major non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a trauma center. The driver of the Malibu, a 23 year old adult male and the right front passenger, a 25 year old adult male, are both Union City residents.  The two men sustained minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals.

The Fremont Police Department's Traffic Unit was called out and responded to the scene.  Investigators are looking into whether alcohol played a role in the collision.  Interviews are still taking place and the primary collision factor has not been determined.  No arrests have been made.

If anyone has information they believe may help police, Traffic Officer Alexander Gregory is the primary investigator and can be contacted at  Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
